Following the success of its first city partnership launched in 2018 in Muncar, Banyuwangi, East Java, the Banyuwangi government has appealed to Project STOP to expand waste collection support to the entire Regency. At full scale, STOP Banyuwangi Hijau will provide waste collection services to 1.4m people.

The initiative will look for ways to improve the existing waste system economics while bringing in new nascent revenue sources (e.g., plastic credits, carbon credits) and national government commitment to make this work.
